Diving and Snorkeling

Without a doubt, diving and snorkeling are Yucatan's top draw. The Caribbean sea is world famous for its wonderful coral reefs and translucent waters full of tropical fish.

The Yucatan's reefs stretch from the northeastern tip near Isla Contoy to the south bordering on Belize.

The island of Cozumel, Punta Sur and Palancar Gardens are must-sees. Snorkelers will want to check out Dzul-Ha and Casitas, close to San Miguel de Cozumel.

Incredible dives can be enjoyed all along the eastern coast of the Yucatan Peninsula.

Cancun, Isla Mujeres, Puerto Morelos, Playa del Carmen are all prime places to plan a diving vacation. The sleepy towns of Mahahual and Xcalak offer the largest coral atoll in the Northern Hemisphere in and around Banco Chinchorro.

Numerous ship wrecks were caused by these beautiful reefs - wreck diving is currently banned, however, snorkeling is permitted.

Please note that coral reefs and other marine ecoystems are very fragile environments and must be respected when around it.
